Grimshaw Gravels Aquifer Source Water Protection Plan
Grimshaw Gravels Aquifer Source Water Protection Plan
This project will build on the work done by the Grimshaw Gravels Aquifer Management Advisory Association. Our objective is to identify risks to this valuable water source, prioritize the risks and then develop mitigative strategies in order to maintain this resource.
Water Budget
By identifying and measuring discharge from springs fed by the aquifer we hope to complete a water budget. Previous work by Alberta Geological Survey has provided estimates of recharge and storage volumes. When we can estimate a discharge volume, then we will have a good grasp on how much water is available for withdrawal without over pumping the aquifer.
We need your help to identify springs, if you know of one please contact us.
Official Release
The plan is officially released and now we are working on implementation. Stay tuned to learn how you can help maintain the source water that is the Grimshaw Gravels Aquifer.
