Grimshaw Gravels Aquifer Source Water Protection Plan
Grimshaw Gravels Aquifer Source Water Protection Plan
Aquifer demo video
This project will build on the work done by the Grimshaw Gravels Aquifer Management Advisory Association. Our objective is to identify risks to this valuable water source, prioritize the risks and then develop mitigative strategies in order to maintain this resource.
Grimshaw Gravels Aquifer Survey 2024
We would love to hear from you about the Grimshaw Gravels Aquifer. Please fill out our survey if you are in the Grimshaw area. This info will help us implement our Source Water Protection Plan and maintain the good quality drinking water in the aquifer to support our communities.
Wellhead assessments
We are offering free wellhead assessments to help well owners maintain their wells and protect their drinking water.
Water Budget
Thanks to Dr. Brian Smerdon at the University of Alberta and Alex Oiffer at Alberta Environment and Protected Areas we have a water budget. This water budget allows for proactive management and discussions about water use from the aquifer. Using the model developed we can explore the changes in water level in the aquifer with varying amounts of recharge and different amounts of withdrawal.
Official Release
The plan is officially released and now we are working on implementation. Stay tuned to learn how you can help maintain the source water that is the Grimshaw Gravels Aquifer.
